I’ve been on both sides of the hiring table.
Here’s what I saw.
Before I became a resume writer, I was the person deciding who got called in for an interview. I've screened resumes by the stack, conducted more interviews than I can count, and witnessed firsthand the massive disconnect between talented candidates and how they present themselves on paper.
Spoiler: there are a lot of really impressive professionals out there with really unimpressive resumes. (I’m not saying it’s their fault! Resume writing is a skill, and no one really teaches you this stuff.)
How Go-Getter Resumes was born
I started my career in human resources, then moved into in-house recruiting, where I became genuinely passionate about the one-on-one connection with job seekers. But I kept seeing the same thing over and over: qualified, capable people being passed over by hiring managers because their resumes weren't communicating their value.
I got really frustrated with the system… and then I got inspired.
In 2018, I earned my Certified Resume Strategist (CRS) designation through Career Professionals of Canada (CPC) and launched my business: Go-Getter Resumes. I've since earned my Nationally Certified Resume Writer (NCRW) credential—one of the most rigorous certifications in the profession—and have been recognized with multiple industry awards for my work in technical, career-change, and executive resume writing.
Go-Getter Resumes wasn't born from a business plan. It was born from a genuine desire to help people start meaningful employment conversations—and find work that doesn't make them miserable.
What makes working with me different
I'm not a resume mill. I'm one person, working with a focused number of clients at a time, bringing my full attention to every individual and project.
My HR and recruiting background means I think about your resume the way a recruiter or hiring manager does, not just the way a writer or employee does. That combination is rare, and it shows up in my work.
And above all: I see you as a human being, not a transaction or a minion. Our strategy session call is a real conversation where I help you realize your value and uncover accomplishments you might be underselling (or forgetting entirely).
"We'll figure it out" is something I say a lot. And I mean it every time.
